We deeply regret to have to record the death of Mr. Frank Wood Buckland, of "Monntecito," Sussex Place, Slough which occurred at Bickenhall Mansions, Marylebone, after a long illness, on Monday, at the age of 55 years. He was the eldest son of the late Mr. Francis Bowry Buckland, of "Whitehall," Wraysbury, who died on Wednesday, November 9th, in his 86th year. Both were partners in the well-known firm of Buckland and Sons, of Windsor, Slough, and London. Mr. F.W. Buckland was a Fellow of the Auctioneers Institute and local secretary of the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Society. It was through his father that the Windsor Permanent Benefit Building Society was started over half a century ago, and for some years he was secretry to the Society. Mr. F. B. Buckland was trustee of the Royal Albert Institute, Windsor, and at one time Mr. F. W.Buckland was an active member of the Institute and served on the committee. He was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him, and much sympathy is felt for his widow and family.
took place at S. Mary's Church, Slough, on Thursday afternoon, amidst general manifestations of sympathy and sorrow. The Rector (the Rev. A. G. P. Baines) conducted the service, and as the body was borne out to the grave in the southern part of the churchyard the organist (Mr. Alfred Blanchet) played "O Rest in the Lord."
The mourners were: Mr. Gascyone Buckland (son), Miss M. M. Buckland (sister), Mr R. W. Buckland, Mr. S. C. Buckland (brothers), Mrs. Kent (half-sister), Captain Buckland, R.N., Mr. Virgoe Buckland, Mr. H. D. Buckland, Mr. W. Buckland (cousins), Mr. H. Ruff, Messrs. R. F. D'Albertanson, W. Worth, E. J. Ireland, C. H. Heskins, E. B. Bowyer, F. P. L. Chapman, and F. Smith (members of the staffs of the Windsor, Slough, and London offices).
Among others present were: Sir William Shipley, Messrs. E. C. Devereux, H. B. Brown, E. Howe, S. F. Oxley, G. H. Charsley, H. L. C. Barrett, Harold Thomson, R. G. Harrison, F. Farr, E. T. Bowyer, H. Hetherington, A. L. Lawrence, G. A. Scott, T. Scott, A. C. Major, jun., John Harding, F. Fisher, W. M. Bayley, M. C. Roberts, A. W. Guppy (representing Mr. C. Luff), H. Smith, H. Pudney, J. Vidlet, H. O. Serpell, and others.
The floral tributes were very numerous and exceedingly beautiful. Among them were tokens of sympathy from Lady and Miss Oppenheimer, the firm's office staffs at Windsor, Slough, and London, the directors and secretary of the Windsor and Eton Permanent Benefit Building Society, and fellow auctioneers and estate agents at Slough, Messrs. Lee and Farr and Mr. Edward T. Bowyer.
Mr. E. Sargeant was the undertaker.
